Economic Relief for Homeless Service Workers

If you are a homeless service worker in Washington State, you may be eligible to receive a stipend up to $4,000. Applications are open! Begin your application now.

Stipend payments are taxable income.

FORWARD is the vendor providing payments under the stipend program. If you were awarded a stipend payment in 2022, an IRS tax form 1099 reporting that payment has been mailed and/or emailed to you from the FORWARD vendor parent company GEOCKO, INC.

The email will come from a service called Track1099 1099 & W-2, with the subject line  Subject: 1099-MISC from Geocko, Inc. Please download the 1099 form linked in this email for your records.

Application submission for this program is ongoing.

Fully complete applications submitted on or before December 9, 2022 have been reviewed and approvals sent on December 22, 2022. Applicants who were not approved by December 22, 2022 are still under review for Stipend #1.

Applications not approved by December 22, 2022 will not be eligible for Stipend #2.

Applicants awarded Stipend #1 on or before December 22, 2022 will be sent instructions via their registered email to apply for Stipend #2 approximately five months after their award date.

What is the Homeless Service Workers Stipend Program?

The Homeless Service Worker Stipend Program offers economic relief for homeless service workers up to $4,000.

Applications for the first stipend of up to $2,000 opens September 29, 2022. A second stipend payment of up to $2,000 is available for individuals who are approved for an initial stipend payment no later than December 22, 2022, and who are still working for the same eligible organization six months later. Please note that due to an extremely high application volume, stipend applications submitted on or after December 1, 2022 may not be reviewed and approved in time to be eligible for a second stipend payment. Applications for the second stipend payment must be approved no later than June 9, 2023.

Who is eligible for the homeless service workers stipend? 

If you are a homeless service worker with an immediate economic need and you are working for an organization that contracts with a Washington state city or county providing homeless services, you may qualify!

Individuals are eligible for the stipend if they meet all the following requirements:
